Nature and Nurture Group

This group has been created to help children to make friends in a safe inclusive environment; And to offer them the opportunity to develop knowledge of emotions and ways to manage them, with a focus on how the brain and nervous system operate.

There will be games and other activities designed to build connections between group members. Psycho education will be delivered using games, stories, role plays and crafts. Each week we will focus on a different psychological concept or idea.

There is a no-pressure ethos for group members. If children do not wish to take part in an activity, their decision will be respected.
All abilities, neurotypes and learning styles welcome. Please let me know if adjustments/considerations are required.

The group is aimed at primary age children, but older or younger children are welcome to attend if you feel they would benefit. Parents can stay or leave, as long as your child is comfortable with this. There are cafes in the local area if you want to go and grab a cuppa 🙂

Sessions are on a Friday 2pm to 3pm (most term-time weeks). at Levenshulme Old Library (Home | Levenshulme Old Library). Children must be booked to attend in advance. Please do get in touch with any queries, or if you wish to book.

£10 per child per week

Why Psychology for All?

I believe as a society we miss opportunities to teach our children the most important lessons. During my psychology training I came to understand human beings and how our minds, emotions and bodies are connected. Psychoeducation is often part of therapy. The idea being that people often feel better if they understand what they are experiencing and why. So therapists routinely share their understanding of concepts such as the nervous system, brain biology, psychological theories of distress and offer suggestion of practices to feel better. I strongly believe that we should learn all of these important lessons, and as a home educator/psychologist I feel I am in a good position to begin to share this knowledge both in and outside of the therapy room.
